There are 4 types of standard Rhizon samplers, each with its own characteristics:

Each Rhizon type is available in 4 varieties:
- with a 5 or 10 cm porous part - using Rhizons with a 10 cm porous part, the yield of water is approximately 4 ml/minute
- with a male luer lock, suitable for creating a vacuum with needles + vacuum tubes, or with a female luer lock, suitable for creating a vacuum with syringes

Rhizon SMS, for analyzing macro elements
Rhizon SMS are samplers used to collect water for analyzing macro elements, however they are not suitable for analyzing metals.

Rhizon CSS are used for direct sampling in cores or undisturbed sediments. They are used to collect water for analyzing macro and micro elements, gases and DOC.

Rhizon Flex, for analyzing macro + micro elements in disturbed soils
Rhizon Flex, samplers used for disturbed soils, are fit to position during the filling of the pots or cylinders. They are used to collect water for analyzing macro and micro elements, gases and DOC.

sampling accessories
Before you can take your samples, you will need additional accessories to create a vacuum. This can be either a syringe or a vacuum tube. For field experiments, extension tubing might be useful. We could advise you about the best accessories for your experiments.

storage
Store in a dry, normally ventilated place, away from sources of heat, ignition and direct sunlight. Store between 0 and 50 ºC (32 - 122F). The membrane modules should not be subjected to any freezing temperatures.
